Living the Life of a Digital Nomad

digital nomad

I am a nomad, a digital nomad, and I love the life that I am living. The term nomad is defined as a person who wanders and does not stay long in one place. That is what I am. I am a wanderer, a traveler, a roamer, a drifter. You can call me a gypsy, a rover, and an itinerant as well.

Living the life of a digital nomad

I love to travel and I love to explore new places. I am lucky enough to have a job that does not tie me to a desk and chair; that does not require me to be at a specific place at a specific time. I love what I do, I love what I am capable of, and yes, I love the fact that I can be a nomad.

What is a Digital Nomad?

The word as defined above means I can go anywhere and roam where I want, with my work in tow. I can work anywhere and get to live the life of a traveler while still maintaining a steady income as I do so. A digital nomad is anyone who can work anywhere. You don’t have to actually go to other cities, towns, or countries to fit this description. As long as you can bring your work with you, you can be considered a digital nomad.

Meeting up with a fellow digital nomad

There are many of us and we perform a wide variety of jobs. The one thing we have in common is that we work with the help of the internet. We can do what we do (and earn pretty well too) by doing online work. It can be any kind of work as long as it can be done online.

Digital nomads include content writers, digital illustrators, video makers, search engine optimization specialists, and people like me who are, well, somewhat a jack-of-all-trades. I do specialize in a number of things, and these include lead generation, Facebook advertising, social media marketing, and Google Ads. All of these, (as long as I have my trusty laptop and a stable-enough internet connection) I can do from anywhere and at any time.

Challenges and Joys of Being a Digital Nomad

As fun and as exciting my world can be, it is not without its challenges. I have encountered one or two glitches during my travels and at times when I truly needed to get work done. Problems like intermittent internet connections, power outages, no quiet place to work, and other similar issues can become very trying and frustrating to someone who has to get work done on a deadline.

These challenges, however don’t discourage me from taking my work with me. While I do try to get my work done before I travel, I find that living out of a suitcase and doing my work even as I find myself with a laptop battery draining fast and almost non-existent internet connections, to be exhilarating. It shows me that life can be lived on your own terms and you don’t have to sacrifice your earning capability to do it.

The joy I get from traveling while I work tends to fuel my drive to succeed because I am in the middle of the fruits of my labor, so to speak. I am enjoying what I am earning by being able to work as I enjoy what I am earning. Not that many people can claim this and I am proud to be one of the lucky few who get to do this.

How to Become a Digital Nomad

If you love to travel and would love to earn while doing so, you might want to consider becoming one of us. You need to find a niche in our world, so to speak, and you need to be able to weather the many trials that come with what we do. How do you become one of us? You have to learn a skill or find a job that allows you to work on your schedule and from anywhere.

There are many choices, which I already mentioned above. Take your pick. Then, invest in what you have chosen by taking up courses that will make you one of the best in that niche. Cultivate relationships with clients so that they can trust you even when you are on the road. Make sure that you deliver on your word even when you have your surfboard with you and your swimwear underneath your suit.

To become a great digital nomad, you need to have the tools for it. A trusty laptop, a data plan or pocket WiFi, and your skills. The first two, you can easily provide for yourself, the last one however, you will need to hone and learn, and one place you can do this before you pack your bags and work from anywhere in the world, is PTB Digital Training Hub. If you want to learn what we can do to help you get the kind of life that I am enjoying right now, contact me and I will gladly start you on your way.
