Once in a while, we organize an event that brings together not only the experts in specific digital marketing fields, like SEO, Analytics, and PPC. We also bring together these experts with those who want to get a foot in the door of this world, so to speak, to start their digital marketing journey the right way. On March 23, 2017 we did just that. We opened our doors to those who wanted a peek into our PPC world and to learn a bit about what we did in our industry in what was the first of many planned meet-ups with PPC experts and PPC aspirants.
This meetup was spearheaded by no other than one of the leaders in PPC in Cebu and in the country, Jun Baranggan, who is also known for his expertise not only in the realm of PPC but also in Google Analytics. In a nutshell, Mr. Baranggan is my mentor and is the one who showed me just what analytics and online ads can do for a site.
The event was well attended, with all the tables of the venue being filled to capacity and with a few people standing in the rear of the room for lack of chairs and tables. Did I mention that the venue was at The Tide Cebu, which is a co-working and entrepreneurship hub located in Skyrise 1 of IT Park. If you have been there, you will know just how big this venue is, so you will also know just how many people were in attendance when we say that some people had to stand in the back while the lectures were ongoing.
Aside from Sir Jun talking about PPC and Google Ads basics, I was also called over to speak and present case studies that showed just how effective certain tips and tricks are in making online ads work for your site. I felt some apprehension at first when I got up to speak. It was a big crowd after all, but after I warmed up to the subject, I was able to present my slides and did my presentation as best as I could.
It was an experience that both taught me a lot of things while at the same time gave me the opportunity to share what I know. It felt surreal to meet so many PPC enthusiasts in one place, with the PPC master himself being in his element, teaching newbies about the basics and giving the more learned PPC people some insights and thoughts on trends and tricks that help with creating more effective PPC campaigns.
It was also an event that put me in touch with others just like me who are enthralled at just how well an ad can bring traffic to a site, how a few words can mean the difference between a site that earns and a site that barely rakes in the revenues, and how our craft can actually help companies do better online. The event ended on a high note with everyone taking home lots of new knowledge, refreshed information regarding PPC, and new friends as well as counterparts that they can tap for insights, advice, and even help when needed.
Update: A lot of people have been asking lately whether we will be holding another PPC meetup soon and the answer is YES! Stay tuned to this site and these pages for updates on when the next PPC Cebu Meet Up will be, where it will be held, and what to expect. Oh, and we are also looking into making this an annual thing (or bi-annual event, if there is a call for it), so do keep your eyes peeled for when this will occur and what you can do to help make this happen.
We are looking at the 3rd quarter of this year for such an event to take place, but we do welcome suggestions, volunteers, donations, sponsorships, and more from those who want to see this happen sooner.
